A rare form of flowering currant comes this red flowering form which is very diferent to the main varieties that are grown. This plant is quiet beautiful but nasty in others with its very fine needle like thorns that are very well hiden. If you want to stop people walking through a garden bed then this is the plant for you. It has an arching habit which on the underside hang down red narrow fuschia like flowers which later are followed by red berries the size of a currant which are edible raw or cooked. The plant reaches 2 meters and is native to california. Other names for this plant are Fuschia Goosberry of Californian Fuschia.
